Waiting List/Pre-Birth Deposits - We do keep a waiting list of persons who wish to be notified of an upcoming litter. If you'd like to be added you can email us at vtgoldretrievers@aol.com. You can view some of our favorite past litter photos here. WHAT TO EXPECT Litter Announcement: Once a litter is confirmed we post the announcement on the home page and send out an email to each person on the waiting list along with the estimated delivery date. Pre-Birth Deposits: We accept limited deposits prior to birth. This gives you the option of "reserving" a pup with a desired physical attribute at birth such as first born, largest/smallest, darkest, etc. In other words, we will choose your pup at birth based on your desired attributes. Should you prefer another available pup you are free to swap at any time, please keep in mind, however, that our pups are usually spoken for very quickly. Birth Announcements: Once the pups arrive we notify those on the waiting/deposit list. Group photos and website announcements are usually posted the following day. Choosing A Puppy - Individual Puppy photos are posted within a day or two of birth and are usually updated on a weekly basis. You may choose a pup from the posted photos, or are welcome to make an appt. for an in-person visit to choose your pups from any remaining pups available after 7 weeks of age. Please note that most of our puppy families come to us thru word of mouth, so pups are usually spoken for soon after birth. Application - We do not have a formal application. If you wish to put a deposit down on one of the available pups we ask that you tell us a bit about your family, your household situation, if you have children/other pets, if you have no experience with dogs, etc. We will notify you within 24 hours if the pup is available. ALL pups are introduced to a wide variety of activities/people/textures so they are well rounded and ready to be part of a family when they leave. However, we also spend extra time with each pup on individual areas based on your introduction letter so it's important to be upfront and honest in your introduction. Puppy Visits - While we understand that you are excited and eager to meet your new family member we do politely ask that you wait until pickup to do so. It is a LOT of work raising a litter of pups and since all dogs & pups live in our home it is a continuous balancing act to keep up with cleaning/chores, puppy care, work and family obligations. We will send you weekly updates so you know what is happening with your puppy and will allow you all the time you need on pickup day to get acquainted, but respectfully ask that you not plan to visit prior to pickup. Deposits/Contract: A deposit of $200 is required to hold your puppy and ALL pups are sold with a contract for the protection of the puppy, seller and buyer. Deposits are non-refundable unless we are unable to deliver the pup for any reason. SAMPLE CONTRACT Your Puppy - Your name, (and pups name if known) will be listed under his/her photo which will be updated weekly so that you and your family/friends can track his or her progress. You will also receive regular updates by email and we will occasionally post a short video clip of the pups from time to time. Final Payment - All final payments must be paid in cash at pickup or pre-paid by Paypal or certified bank check. Pups Needing Shipment: We prefer not to ship pups - however, under certain circumstances we do arrange to fly with the pup for delivery, at about the same cost of shipping thru most breeders. This is safer and less stressful for the puppy and ensures we personally meet each family. Please note this service is dependant on many factors, including weather/location/our schedule so we must be advised prior to purchase so we can discuss this option further if you are not able to pick up your pup in person. WE CARE - we love the breed and our goal is to place place every pup in loving forever homes so we do everything in our power to make sure the whole family gets off to a great start by offering healthy, happy, well-socialized new family members and a lifetime of support. EVERY PUPPY - Is born and raised in our home. They are handled from birth, evaluated regularly, played with by both adults and children, and are properly exposed to a wide variety of age appropriate activities both indoors and out. We make a point of getting to know each pup and believe the extra care and attention results in superior family members. All Puppies come with a puppy care package, are examined by a licensed veterinarian before going home and receive a vet-prescribed series of de-wormer and first set of vaccinations (must be 8 weeks of age for first shots) Your Puppy Care Packet May Include:
Your packet will also contain other items we've found helpful/useful. Occasionally puppies become attached to certain toys/cuddle objects, if your pup has formed such an attachment it will also be given to him/her to take along to their new home. In Person Pickup - we do ask that you make an appointment to pick out or pick up your puppy to ensure that we have set aside some "quiet time" and are available to answer your questions, complete any paper work necessary, and if picking up, have your care package ready.
